Right now we’re in the peak of San Diego Comic Con 2014! Many panels have gone by with some interesting revelations and others are yet to come, like the anticipated Marvel Studios (can you believe they’re already 10 movies in!), which goes live today at 5:30 pm PT. You can check out the live blog at Marvel’s website along with their full video coverage. And to all those poor unfortunate souls (like me) who are unable to go, don’t fret. There’s nothing that a little shopping therapy can’t cure. Pfft, who wants to travel all way to SDCC when it can come to you!
Brewery Ommegang in partnership with HBO created some Game of Thrones beer! Pedro Pascal surprised guests at their tasting event to serve up their newest beer, Valar Morghulis. It’s nice to see his face intact and smiling. (source)
Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and co. were on hand for The Walking Dead panel which previewed a new trailer for season 5. New episodes kick off this October!
The Giver showed up to fill the dystopian hole left by Hunger Games and Divergent this year at Comic Con. As you can imagine there’s not a whole lot of merch for the movie right now, but you’ll be able to enjoy the soundtrack which releases on iTunes August 5th! OneRepublic’s Ordinary Human, which was heard in the trailer, seems to be the featured song.
Now I know there’s been a lot of recent changes to the ANT-MAN film. Edgar Wright left a couple months prior and 3 more actors (including Patrick Wilson) have also dropped out. But I’m not going to pass judgment until I see the final product. Even if I’m still really sad about Edgar Wright not being involved anymore… Keep up hope with this t-shirt which is sure to be one of many to show up in stores in the next year or so. (source)
Celebrate 75 years of Batman with the Dark Crusader’s watch! So, Batman is gonna be super busy. You’ve got Zack Snyder’s Superman vs. Batman movie. There’s the next Batman Arkham Knight game. Also, another LEGO Batman game. And don’t forget coming this fall the new tv series, Gotham. It’s a good time to be a Batman fan.
The final installment of the franchise, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, is set to take the screen this winter. So, keep those toes cozy warm with these furry Hobbit slippers.
Some people will disagree with me, but Marvel is one of the biggest influencers of SDCC. Their Marvel-verse movies are highly anticipated with the hype train to match. The latest installment, Guardians of the Galaxy, is set for release next Friday, August 1st with more Avengers 2: Age of Ultron news still to come. But in the meantime, why not catch up on where these movies originated… the comics! Until July 29th you can get one month of Marvel Unlimited for $0.99 using the promo code SDCC14. This gives you access to a ton of Marvel digital comics that you can read on your computer and devices. It’s pretty damn handy.
And that concludes my goodies list. I’m going to keep my eyes and ears out for more news coming out of SDCC 2014 and do a post after about all the fun stuff I’m excited for!
