It’s that time again… Steam Summer Sale time! This year the sale is starting even earlier than it did last year and will run from June 11-21, 2015. With E3 just around the corner it’s going to be a busy time for gaming. For the past 2 years I’ve made posts about tips on saving money through these sales. And while my advice largely stays the same, things change year to year and there are some other considerations that need to be taken. One of the biggest changes to Steam happened very recently with the addition of their refund policy. And of course, every year Steam has something different up their sleeve for the community with fun events. So, let’s get started!
I often wonder what life would be like if I were a squid disguised as a man. … Well, not really, but in Octodad: Dadliest Catch that dream (if it were my dream) would come true! In my latest endeavor into the world of let’s plays I take on the persona of the sea creature and get myself into all kinds of hilarious mischief. Episodes are uploaded as often as I can (usually every other day). You can catch up on all the episodes here in the playlist!

So, I’ve been hearing some whisperings about the Steam Summer Sale could be starting today @ 1 pm ET! There’ve been claims that people have seen backgrounds in Big Picture mode stating the sale is set for June 19th to 30th. There’s also the Mysterious trading cards that have appeared in the badges inventory. It’s fairly early for the sale, but I think this is an excellent time for one! High schools will be finishing up with their exams, colleges and universities have been out already, and summer is just beginning. This gives all us gamers the whole summer to enjoy our ever building backlog ‘o games and hopefully shrink it down a bit.
Last sale I made a post with some advice about the sale. I’ll reiterate them again here with a few extra tips.
On March 18th, 2014 Square-Enix released Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster for the PS3 and PS Vita. I’ve always been a fan of these games, so I had pre-ordered a Limited Edition copy online for the PS3. When I first played the game back in 2001 on the PS2 I had been blown away. I remember how the real time gameplay looked almost as good as CGI cinematics. And the inclusion of voice acting was a real step forward for Final Fantasy games. I pretty much obsessed over both games in my teen years (along with Final Fantasy VIII, so Square-Enix get on making a HD Remaster of that too! ). Needless to say, this was my most anticipated game this year.
It’s that time! The Steam Summer Sale is upon us once again! This year’s event is running from July 11th – 22nd, so plenty of time to grab some great games. As a veteran Steam sale shopper and self-proclaimed gaming deal hunter this is one of the sales I look forward to all year. I love the Winter Sale too, but I feel under pressure at that time of year with shopping for gifts and not to mention the guilt of spending money for myself on things I kinda don’t need… So, summer feels much more relaxed! What is this? Possibly some substance? Maybe…
I’ve been watching Extra Credits for a few months. I won’t lie. I didn’t discover it when they first released. In fact, I didn’t even give it a second glance. I really only went to The Escapist to watch Zero Punctuation. Which by the way is worth checking out if you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t already.
Extra Credits (EC) doesn’t review games, but rather the gaming industry. I thought it was an interesting concept. I then proceeded to watch practically all the videos. 😛 It’s not perfect, so I do have some critiques to go along with my raves.
