Success! Canada’s on the board with not just one, but THREE medals after Day 1! And it happens to be one of each colour giving us the Olympic rainbow of medals.
Mark McMorris grabbed Canada’s first medal of the games! He landed a bronze in Men’s Slopestyle Snowboarding. I’m in awe that he managed to make in on the podium with a freakin’ broken rib! Wat??? Serious congrats!
Later, the Dufour-Lapointe sisters competed in Women’s Moguls. I think it’s amazing that 3 sisters were able to qualify into the finals to compete together. And even more so that two of them got Canada’s first gold and silver medals! Way to go Justine and Chloe!
And let’s not forget about Team Canada’s shutout against the Swiss in Women’s hockey. Great start for them on their journey to gold! I gotta say though, the Swiss goalie really did some serious work out there making some big saves. Much respect.
The team figure skating event continued from it’s start on Day –1 with the ice dance and women’s short. With the help of Tessa Virtue, Scott Moir, and Kaetlyn Osmond Canada sat pretty in 2nd where they moved on to the final rounds for the medals.
All in all, today was a good day. Also, the Leafs won against Canucks 3-1!
